A Professor of Magic at Hogwarts Chapter 114: Honours
Felix hooked his mouth and walked into the living room.
This room was also cast with the Untraceable Stretching Charm. It doesn't look big from the outside, but inside it looks like a small Hogwarts auditorium.
The floor is covered with jet-black and shiny dark wood planks, and the blue ceiling is inlaid with gleaming golden symbols, constantly moving and changing.
There are two rows of torches on the walls on all sides, and the red flames burn quietly.
There are about twenty people in the living room, scattered into seven or eight small circles.
The Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, who was surrounded by the most people, looked very lively, with a big smile and a straight stomach, completely different from when he was at Hogwarts.
Not far from the door, Snape was talking with a tall, thin middle-aged wizard with curly brown hair.
"Severus, you're here too." Felix walked up to the two of them.
Snape also looked at him in surprise, his eyes fixed on Felix, and said softly: "I didn't expect that they would also invite you, I don't remember what you have achieved in the field of potions An unforgettable achievement."
Felix smiled: "Belby and I are friends, and we often correspond with each other."
Snape smacked his lips and said nothing.
Felix turned to look at the wizard, "Mocles, long time no see."
The wizard in front of him is none other than Mocles Belby, the potion master who invented the wolfsbane potion.
Belby shook hands with him enthusiastically, "Felix, I am very happy to share my joy with you."
He suddenly approached, and said in a secret tone: "I recently watched a new Muggle show, which is very interesting. If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend you to watch it."
"What is it about?"
"A story about a group of cats having a party?" he said uncertainly. "To be honest, I always thought it was an opera, but Muggles call it a musical, and I can't figure out the difference."
"Hmm..." Felix tried hard to remember.
Snape listened to the conversation between them in amazement. Even Hogwarts Muggle Studies Professor Caredy Bubbaji didn't involve too much in Muggle life.
Speaking of which, it was Felix who brought Belby into the pit.
The earliest acquaintance between the two was when Belby wrote a letter to refute some of his remarks in the book, thinking that he had exaggerated and his words were quite violent. At that time, Felix only regarded him as a pure-blood with no brains, and taunted him with reason and evidence, and attached various data.
As a result, Belby really studied it seriously, and finally wrote a letter to admit his mistake.
The correspondence between the two also increased, and Felix visited him several times.
This master of potions is introverted and unsociable, but in fact he is delicate and sensitive. In the letter, he was distressed that he was alienated from his family because of his obsession with potions.
Felix suggested that he and his family find common topics, and find intersections between his own preferences and those of his family.
And Belby chose opera.
According to what Felix learned later, Belby invited the whole family to watch a very famous magical opera at a family gathering. They were all surprised by this, but they happily went to the appointment.
Later, Felix accidentally mentioned that there are many excellent operas in the Muggle world...
During the conversation, Belby pulled someone over, "This is my brother, Crest, Crest Belby."
Felix looked at the short man with the same hair color, "Hello, Kleist."
"Hello, Mr. Haip." The man said enthusiastically, "I heard Mocles mention you, and he admired you very much. He bought a hundred copies of your book..."
"Ahem!" His brother coughed twice in embarrassment.
Felix: "..."
Not long after, other wizards on the field discovered Felix, and they took the initiative to chat.
"Haipe, long time no see, I heard you went to work at Hogwarts."
"That's right, I'm in charge of ancient runes. Ogden, is the Wizengamot busy recently?"
"It's nothing, I don't care much about it." The wizard muttered.
On the way, Fudge also came to say hello. He hinted that he had a private party recently. Felix pretended not to understand and wished him all the best.
During this period, many people came to the room one after another, most of them were experts in the field of potions and members of the Wizengamot, as well as some staff from the Ministry of Magic and a few reporters.
There was a commotion at the door, and Felix looked up, and saw a chunky witch in pink.
When she passed by, a strong smell of perfume hit her face.
The witch went straight up to Fudge and talked to him in a shrill voice.
Belby frowned and said: "She is today's host, this is my only dissatisfaction."
"That's—"
"Dolores Umbridge, Director of the Prohibition of Misuse of Magic Division, of course, is also a member of the Wizengamot. Her reputation in the Ministry of Magic is not very good, a very harsh person..."
The witch suddenly giggled, and Belby shut her mouth tightly.
Soon, the ceremony officially began.
Standing on the high platform, Umbridge showed a sweet smile to the thirty or so guests below.
"As a member of the Wizengamot, it is an honor to stand here and preside over this investiture. I would especially like to thank the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, for his trust in me. Without his wise leadership... ..."
Originally, Felix was still listening carefully, but when ten minutes passed, he finally lost his mind. Although he would also greet strangers, he had never made such a long speech.
When she said twenty minutes, the voice below gradually became louder. Umbridge had to draw her wand from her pocket and tap the wood in front of her to silence the crowd.
Felix glanced past the pink bow in her hair and at the wand in her hand—a birch wand about 8 inches.
After another three or four minutes, when the commotion broke out again, Umbridge finally got down to business.
"Let us welcome today's protagonist - Mocles Belby, for his outstanding contribution to the invention of the wolfsbane potion, he was awarded the Second Class Badge of the Knights of Merlin!"
Belby walked up with a blank expression.
"—and Honorees, Ministers Augustus Gray and Cornelius Fudge."
The head of the Wizengamot Affairs Office was an old wizard. He tremblingly handed Belby a gold-plated certificate, and was then dragged down.
Then Umbridge handed Fudge a box, and Fudge opened it with a wide smile, and took out a gold medal with a purple ribbon on it.
Fudge hung the Medal of Merlin on Belby's chest and shook hands with him cordially.
Felix noticed that the smile on Belby's face was very stiff.
Under the stage, there were flashing white lights and "click" sounds for taking pictures.
Next, Fudge delivered a speech with enthusiasm, praising "Belby's outstanding contribution, eliminating the hidden danger of werewolves for hundreds of years, which is a historic step."
Felix applied "closed earplugs" to his surroundings, quietly turned his head, and whispered to Snape beside him.
"Why didn't you see Dumbledore?"
Snape squeezed a sentence through his teeth ~IndoMTL.com~ He rarely participated in these activities unless he felt it was really necessary. "
"Isn't he the chief wizard of the Wizengamot?" Felix asked.
"That's an honor, Felix. Except for trying a group of dark wizards at the end of the war, the Wizengamot spends most of the rest of his time taking care of trivial matters, do you think, Dumbledore Will you participate?"
Under Snape's explanation, Felix got to know this organization again.
The Wizengamot has a great reputation and is the highest court in the wizarding world. Its functions are similar to a combination of a court and a parliament. In practice, however, their authority overlaps with that of other departments of the Ministry of Magic.
The members of the Wizengamot can be divided into two, most of them are famous wizards in various fields, they are invited to join; Administration and paperwork.
But they are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Magic.
This department is responsible for handling ordinary illegal incidents. Only in high-impact controversies are the members of the Wizengamot invited to serve as a jury and vote for a verdict.
Even so, the Ministry of Magic often assigns judges directly.
……
When walking out of the living room, Felix asked Belby, "What are your plans for the near future?"
Belby let out a long sigh of relief, "I'm going to take a break and get in touch with new things—this is your suggestion, isn't it?"
A thought suddenly appeared in Felix's mind. He looked Belby up and down, and when the master of potions was getting a little hairy, he finally spoke--
"Mocles, are you interested in experiencing a piece of campus life?"
